Itinerary
 

July 17
Group meeting at Vitória da Conquista Airport by 1:00 PM. The group will then travel in a private vehicle to the community of Baixão, in the town of Ibicoara.
 

July 18
Fumacinha Waterfall – Challenging trail to Fumacinha Waterfall, located in the southern part of Chapada Diamantina National Park and considered one of the most beautiful in Brazil. The hike is 18 km (round trip), along a riverbed flanked by canyons up to 280 meters high. We depart early from our accommodation at 6:00 AM and begin the trek. At the waterfall, there will be time for swimming and photos before returning along the same trail to our transport, which will take us back to the community of Baixão for the night.
 

July 19
Buracão Waterfall – After breakfast in Baixão, we head to Espalhado Municipal Natural Park. From there, we follow an easy trail of about two hours (round trip) to reach Buracão Waterfall. Along the way, we’ll stop for photos at Orquídeas and Recanto Ibicoara waterfalls. We return via the same trail to our vehicle, which will take us to the town of Andaraí for the night.
 

July 20
Vale do Pati Trekking – After breakfast, we begin the Vale do Pati trek, departing from Andaraí. The route starts with the Ramalho ascent, an old trail once used by prospectors and muleteers, taking approximately two hours to climb to the Ladeira do Império. From there, we descend to the home of Mr. Jóia, where we will overnight. In the late afternoon, we’ll enjoy the view of Vale do Guariba and a refreshing river swim at Poção.
 

July 21
Poço das Árvores, Prefeitura, Morro do Castelo (front view) – After breakfast, we hike to Poço das Árvores for a swim and snack stop, then continue to Prefeitura for a viewpoint of Morro do Castelo. After crossing the Pati River, we continue to the home of Mr. Agnaldo, where we will overnight.
 

July 22
Morro do Castelo, Funis Waterfall – After breakfast, we hike up a steep trail to the top of Morro do Castelo, crossing a small cave to the other side for incredible views of the Pati River Valley. We continue to Funis Waterfall, where we’ll stop for a snack, then hike on to Igrejinha for the night.
 

July 23
Igrejinha, Serra da Rampa, Gerais do Rio Preto, Cachoeirão (upper viewpoint), Mirante do Aleixo – Full-day trek through some of Vale do Pati’s most iconic landscapes, including panoramic viewpoints and natural highlights. Overnight at local accommodation.
 

July 24
No breakfast included. Departure from Mucugê guesthouse at 3:00 AM to Vitória da Conquista Airport. (Please book flights departing from 10:00 AM onwards.)

Good to Know

Previous Experience or Prerequisites for Participating in the Activity:

  • Prior experience with hiking trails.

  • Adequate physical fitness.

  • Regular practice of aerobic physical activity.

  • No medical restrictions.

  • Individuals with chronic knee problems or those unaccustomed to physical effort are not fit for this activity.

  • Participants allergic to insect bites must take extra care: always use repellent and carry personal anti-allergy medication.

  • Participants with heart conditions must have authorization from their physician and carry any necessary medication for physical activity.

  • Commitment to responsible conduct in natural environments.

  • Before starting the hike, the group will receive guidance on trail behavior. All waste generated by participants must be carried out of the park and taken back to the city.

Outdoor activities are subject to natural environmental hazards and risks, which may include: venomous animals, uneven or slippery terrain, falling or rolling rocks, sudden weather changes, lightning, and flash floods (heavy rainfall upstream causing a rapid and dramatic rise in water levels). Although the Jalapão region has some escape routes, it is considered a remote area, where both communication and transportation are difficult.
 

Search, evacuation, rescue, or immediate medical assistance may take a long time to arrive. The most common injuries in natural environments include abrasions, sprains, fractures, hypothermia, hyperthermia, bleeding, dehydration, drowning, allergic reactions, and lightning-related injuries. Depending on their type and severity, such injuries may result in permanent trauma or even death.
 

Please remember that when engaging in any outdoor activity, you are fully responsible for your own actions, even within the boundaries of a Conservation Unit, private property, or under the guidance of your leader. All necessary orientation for the safe conduction of the activity will be provided by the guides, and all participants are insured by Brazilian Adventure Society – Porto Seguro Individual Adventure Insurance.
